“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”
— Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

The Past glory of MP State’s first self-financed Allied Health Science Institute (MAHSI) dates back to the most reputed Central India’s leading Govt. MGM Medical College since the British era as the King Edward Medical School (KEM) established in 1878 and was later converted to MGM Medical College in 1947. Working on the principles of research-based evidence and committed to providing the best clinical services, MAHSI has been carrying forward the legacy of MGM Medical College since the time of its inception.

The first MP state “School of Physiotherapy” was established in the Year 1997, which merged into MGM Allied Health Sciences Institute (MAHSI) in the Year 2018. The institute caters to around 1400 students and 17 different Allied Health Post-graduate, Undergraduate Degree, Diploma, and Certificate courses. The institute promotes nurturing of students with adequate emphasis on all the aspects of integrated education i.e., physical, intellectual, and value education, and social well-being.

MAHSI is equipped with state-of-the-art lecture rooms, digital laboratory, enriched library & information science centre, Sports injury rehabilitation centre, and various labs including anatomy lab, physiology lab, nutrition lab, etc. The college also provides a platform to nurture the students in various fields of life, providing an overall development to their personality. In order to nurture the innate talents of students, various clubs are operated and run by the students under the guidance of faculty members. In today's e-world of e-books, e-library, and e-journals, to inculcate the habit of reading, the readers club forum was started in MAHSI in which renowned citizens of the city from diverse fields, students, and faculty members review a book with good moral & teachings of life every month. Hence, we try to instill the habit of learning & good values important for thriving in the community in each and every member of MAHSI.

To make the students aware of the rich, vibrant, and diverse historical heritage of our country, the History Club has been formulated, which holds a session once every month in which subject experts and students share their knowledge about the various historical eras & important historical events.

Besides infrastructure, the college is valued for its academic rigour, in particular the delivery of student-centric and research-oriented content along with practical training exposure. In order to provide practical training exposure and hands-on training, students are posted in various associated hospitals of MGM Medical College such as Maharaja Yashwant Rao Hospital, Maharaja Tukoji Rao Hospital, School of Excellence for Eye, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, Superspeciality Hospital. The students are also posted for clinical training at SAI (Sports Authority of India) to provide insight into on-field injuries and their prevention. The students also learn from the prevalent clinical practice in national & international sports.

MAHSI has been successfully fulfilling its institutional social responsibility by organizing various outreach camps in the Indore district, which helps to benefit all sections of society. The students are also benefiting from enrolling in certificate courses in YOGA from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. MAHSI has entered into an international collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University (U.K.) under which various research projects are conducted in addition to the student and faculty exchange programs and special emphasis on knowledge sharing.

MAHSI fraternity has successfully emerged over the years for achieving excellence by evidence-based practice & thorough research-based knowledge & is discharging their duties with dedication, commitment & passion. In the years ahead, MAHSI will continue to uphold the rich legacy of being a centre of academic excellence & clinical enrichment for promoting Allied Health Care education in India and strive to become one of the best global academic institutions. The institute has become a preferred destination for academic pursuits and clinical excellence to the students of the home state of MP and adjoining states.

I convey my good wishes to all those who are a part of this legacy.
With best wishes,
